Both my father and I wish for the success of this epic peace movement.

I pray from the bottom of my heart.

I think it is very important to make young people aware of the fact that nuclear weapons are terrifying and have irreparable and devastating consequences, and to teach them this. It has been 31 years since my father wrote the story of Sumiteru Taniguchi. My father would be proud to know the significance of the book today. I sincerely support Mr. Taniguchi's lifelong efforts to promote the total abolition of nuclear weapons. As the daughter of a fighter pilot who fought in World War II, I need my children and grandchildren to live a war-free, nuclear-weapon-free life, and humanity to endure such fears again. I pray that there is no such thing.

I believe it is essential to bring awareness and to educate young people on the horrors and the irreversible and devastating consequences of nuclear weapons. Thirty years after my father wrote Sumiteru Taniguchi's story,  I support wholeheartedly Mr Taniguchi's life commitment to promoting the abolishment of all nuclear weapons. As the daughter of a fighter pilot who fought in World War II,  I wish for my children and grandchildren that they be able to live a life without war and without the fear of nuclear weapons and for humanity never to have to endure such horrors again.
